Since Romania became a member of the European Union, we have translated several laws that are applicable in all the member states.
A translation error nevertheless confused all the Romanian shepherds. In particular, a law banning the sale of homemade cheese products outside the local market, in other words outside the national Romanian market.
The phrase “local market” was translated literally, which led to absurd situations in which shepherds could only sell their products in their village market.
Several months later, the mistake was corrected and the shepherds and now free to sell their delicious homemade cheese in neighbouring areas too.
